A Christian Writers of NEPA Workshop
Before you come, pack your Story Basket!
No essays. No polished manuscripts. No pressure. Just bring a few things we can use as we learn to harvest the stories God has already planted in our lives.
Bring one old photograph. A family photo, childhood picture, vacation snapshot, church picture, old house–anything that has a story attached to it. You don’t need to write anything about it–yet.
Bring one small object with a story. Grandma’s recipe card, a piece of jewelry, an old Bible, a ticket stub, a child’s drawing, a button, a Christmas ornament, even something wonderfully ordinary like Dad’s ancient coffee mug.
Choose one person you’d like to interview someday. Preferably someone older, but it could be anyone whose stories you want to preserve. Come with one question you wish you could ask that person.
Be prepared to finish this sentence: “One ordinary moment when I could see God at work was…”
Lunch!!! The most important part!
We will serve Turkey, Apple & Cheddar Harvest Sliders and Apple Crisp! We will have water, tea, and coffee. If none of those strike your fancy, feel free to pack a lunch! You are welcome to bring something to share!
The last portion will be devoted to a “round robin critique circle.” You are welcome to bring a piece of writing for feedback — or just sit and listen.
