Welcome to Character Cafe, Adaleigh. I’m thrilled to have the heroine of Confessions to a Stranger here for tea and a treat. Your author, Danielle Grandinetti is amazing, both as a wordsmith and a woman of God. I’m thrilled to be working with her in a multi-author series — Our House on Sycamore Street.

Thank you, Amy. I’m glad to be here. Thanks for allowing me to stop by the cafe before it’s officially opened for the day. I am still in hiding, but it’s lovely to be in a new and safe setting for a little while. I needed a break.
No worries. I’m so sorry for all you are going through. My husband is really interested in your case as well — in fact, he is over there standing guard at the entrance just as an extra precaution. He’s a police officer, you know.
No, I didn’t know that. That gives me an extra level of comfort.
Tell the readers a little about yourself, Adaleigh. Goodness, I love your name.
I’ve always thought of myself as courageous, willing to stand up for those without a voice. But ever since … well, being on the run changes things. Finding Crow’s Nest, and the kindness the Martins family has shown in taking me in, has been an unexpected blessing for which I am thanking God.
I know your biggest challenge right now is staying hidden…
Yes. My life depends on it.
What is your greatest desire?
To have my family back. I miss them desperately. I think of them throughout the day and wake up during the night to pray for them.
Do you have a theme verse that gives you courage?
“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” Isaiah 43:2 (KJV)

I love that verse so much. Sorry, you reciting that in such a heartfelt way has me teary. [Wipes eyes with napkin] I know you need to get going before dawn when the streets get busy. What tea would you like from our menu?
Chamomile. Mrs. Martins says it helps after a harrowing day.
It certainly does have some calming properties. We steep the Bigelow brand and then add a taste of lavender, milk and honey here at the cafe. Sound good?

Sounds good. And as for my treat, I’d love fresh homemade strawberry jam on toast. It’s my favorite breakfast.
Oh, you are going to love our fresh strawberry jam on the brown bread we make using Five Heart Home’s recipe: https://www.fivehearthome.com/the-very-best-homemade-whole-wheat-bread-plus-free-printable-kitchen-labels/

Readers, take a moment to say a prayer for women like Adaleigh who are on the run from the turmoil and danger in their lives. There are far too many women and children in the US and around the globe who are battered, lonely, and fearful. They need to find a Savior, and they need godly men and women to come alongside them to help them learn about God’s love and start a new life in practical ways.
One of my own novels is a fundraiser for women in need. Check out His Brother’s Atonement here at http://www.walshmountainpublishing.com to find the sales link and the support link.

She’s lost her future. He’s sacrificed his. Now they have a chance to reclaim it—together.
Wisconsin, 1930—While fleeing for her life, Adaleigh Sirland’s rescue of a child introduces her to a family who provides her safe harbor. But all is not what it seems in the little fishing town. Danger lurks. And, though hiding under an assumed name, Adaleigh offers her ability to draw out confessions, making her a valuable asset to the police.
First mate David Martins is intrigued by the mysterious woman taken in by his grandmother, but knows she wrestles with a troubled past. When his estranged father is arrested for murder, David enlists Adaleigh’s help in proving his innocence. In return, he’s determined to help her find hope once again.
As the truth becomes more knotted, and Adaleigh’s real identity risks revelation, David must put aside his own struggles to discern which secret threatens Adaleigh before it kills them both.
