Welcome our new book barista, Terri Lynn Flowers!

So Aban, it’s my understanding that you may become a prominent figure in your city. Is this correct and can you explain?
Yes, I’m an acolyte and just recently I was in the process of receiving my “First Rights” to become a priest when an old man stormed the temple. I’ve been waiting all my life to understand and learn the mystical powers of Melqart the god of rain. I have many questions though about the different gods of our land.
Aban, tell us about how you became an acolyte.
Children of the high priestess are promised to the gods. My Mother Mara is a high priestess and her midwife Donatiaya raised me. My Mother and I share scars because of the gods, but that is a story for another time. But I am able to become an acolyte, because my Mother is the high priestess. I love my Mother but she is very stern with me.
I have a very close relationship with Donatiya the midwife. I also have a brother, Joah, he’s just a toddler. Donitaya has claimed him as her own.
Aban, are there other gods in your land?
Yes, there is a God the Israelites call Yahweh. Matter of fact, there is a prophet by the name Elijah that preaches very loudly throughout our land about Yahweh. I think he is the one who stormed the temple during the First Rights ceremony. Many in my land think he is a madman. But I am very curious about him.
Aban, what happened when this madman stormed the temple? The man stopped in front of King Ahab and struck the floor with his staff, all BOLD LIKE! I will never forget it. Everyone was in shock.
Wow! Aban, that sounds scary! What happened next?
Well, all I can tell you is that the words he spoke echoed through the whole temple. Everyone was whispering that this old man was the messenger from the God, Yahweh. His words were piercing, he called out the god of rain, Melqart saying, “As the Lord God of Israel lives, whose servant I am, there shall not be dew or rain these next few years until I bid it come”!

Yikes! Aban, you must have been a little scared.
Well Terri, the truth of the matter is, I was more curious about this prophet and this God Yahweh. As much as I would love to continue this interview, I really need to get back.
Please make sure you read the book RAIN to see what happens to me and Elijah. Thanks for the bread and honey, it was great!
This is our first time having a character from Old Testament times on Mornings from Character Café. We remodeled the café a bit and added to the menu.
I don’t have a recipe for Elijah Bread, so I thought Ezekiel Bread would do. This is so tasty when warm, with some salted butter and honey on top. Yummy!

And we knew that Aban would love a tea called Purple Rain. I cannot wait to try this out! https://justea.com/products/purplerain
