A Special Event at Character Cafe!

Amy interviewing tiny twins in front of a cafe with the cover of A Cursed Enchantmen

Meet the Twins of Mahogany Manor

That’s funny. I heard voices, but there is no one in the cafe. Hmm. Well, that gives me more time to experiment in the kitchen.

Down here, Miss Amy! Yoo-hoo! Next to your favorite teacup!

Oh my goodness. Gasp! I must be losing my marbles. [Rubs eyes. Then looks again.]

We’re real. Just very tiny. I’m Livie and this is my twin brother Corbin. We really don’t know exactly how we came to be. But we think this sorcerer named Facinare’ brought us to life as a birthday gift to his wife. She passed away the same evening, and he just abandoned all of us in his grief.

Oh, how horrible. That his wife died, but also that you have been left all alone. How in the world are you surviving?

We aren’t exactly alone. We have a whole family. You can see them here: https://dollsofmahoganymanor.wordpress.com/ We all “woke up” on top of a “giant” table. There were dozens of animals there too. We figure Facinare’ must have swept a bunch of his wife’s collectible toys off shelves and brought us all to life at the same time. (Her father was the famous toymaker of Mink’s Miniatures, you know.) So only a few minutes after we were brought to life, we had to keep from being eaten by the carnivores on the table with us. Then we had to find a way off the table because we could see our home, Mahogany Manor, sitting on the other side of Fascinare’s living room.

Oh my word! I can only imagine all of the challenges and dangers you face being so tiny in a world meant for humans! My imagination is going crazy right now. I can only imagine how hard it is to combine fantasy and realism when writing a story about tiny people like you.

Yes, there were problems most people wouldn’t even think of, even when we were staying in Mahogany Manor. Don’t forget, magic is outlawed in Crepundia, so we had to hide our existence. Here is a blog post telling all about the details that became major problems for our family. https://dollsofmahoganymanor.wordpress.com/2021/09/01/fantastic-realism/

How in the world did you even get into the cafe? There are steps leading up to the terrace here. And this table is meant for regular-sized humans.

Fortunately, we made a friend who can help us. Funny thing is, Mama Squirrel was originally a villain in our story because she kidnapped Auntie Amita. We thought we would never see our aunt again when we saw the flying squirrel climb up a huge tree carrying her. But Auntie helped her out and ever since Mama has been our friend.

Isn’t that funny. We had a flying squirrel as a pet for a brief time. Our family adored him. He may have been inspiration for scenes in my novels. [Wink. Wink.] https://walshmountainpublishing.com/2021/06/05/introducing-stanley-the-flying-squirrel/

The aunt-napping by Mama Squirrel was just one of our many adventures. We really have to work together as a family to get out of tricky situations. We learn so much along the way. Plus, we have Nana. Nana is always giving us advice with funny sayings that stick in our heads, and then pop out to help us when we are going through a hard time.

What a treasure your Nana must be. I has wonderful memories of many conversations with Grammy and Grandma Cooley. I was so blessed to spend so many Sunday afternoons just talking and playing games with both sets of grandparents. I’m glad the magician brought your whole family to life including your aunt and grandparents, Livie.

Me too. Hey, since we are here, do you think you could give us a bag of crumbs to take back to the rest of the family?

Of course. But I’ll give you some tea and breakfast first. I have some miniatures here from my own collection which will be the perfect sized plates and mugs. Tell me a tea and a treat from our menu that represents your life in The Cursed Enchantment.

We are so excited whenever we find fruit. It’s usually soft and juicy enough for us to eat and then mash up to fill the tiny bottles from the Mahogany Manor pantry. We especially love grapes, and we have them often in the second book of the series, A Doomed Victory. Here’s a mention of grapes in the first chapter of the second book.

Ooo! You are going to love the new tea we purchased from a Japanese company. Fairy Tale Tea! All sorts of fruity flavors. I will have you try the strawberry peach and the mountain grape.

I’ll empty out a tea bag and fill it with crumbs for you to take back to the rest of the family while I’m in the kitchen. Sound good?

Sounds great. I hope you don’t mind if Corbin and I talk to your readers while you are busy.

Not at all.
